The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), in collaboration with the the national unit for international interrogations, has disclosed that it detained six Muslim Arab terrorists of the Islamic Movement – the Northern Branch at the end of March and the beginning of April, including the movement’s acting director.

In November 2015 Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman ruled that the northern branch of the Islamic Movement was an unlawful association and released warrants to crack down on organizations and entities that operated on behalf of the movement in Israel. With the entry into force of the Anti-Terrorism Law in November 2016, the movement was labeled a terror group.

According to the findings of the ISA and police, the arrested terrorists acted to preserve and carry out the activity of the Fatah Tanzim faction, especially in Jerusalem, despite its status.

They are suspected of coordinating and mediating with foreign funding funds connected to the Muslim Brotherhood movement.

In the course of the investigation, two of the terrorists were caught while transferring between them more than NIS 200,000 in cash.

The investigation indicated that some of those involved in the forbidden activity pocketed significant amounts of money and used it for their personal benefit.
