A rocket Alert Siren was activated Friday afternoon on the Golan Heights.
Three rockets landed in open territory on the Golan. No damage or injuries were reported.
According to initial estimates, the projectiles were thought to have been spillover from fighting in the civil war across the border in Syria.
The siren comes after the IDF reported that a mortar fell in the northern Golan Heights on Friday afternoon.
The IDF opened fire towards Syria, after three mortar shells exploded in the Golan Heights as a result of spillover from the Syrian civil war.
“The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm the sovereignty of the State of Israel and the security of its residents and views the Syrian regime as being responsible for what is happening in its territory,” the IDF Spokesperson said.
The border with Syria has been tense since the civil war erupted in 2011, and in April of 2015 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted for the first time that the IDF had carried out strikes in Syrian territory.
