Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo was involved in a five-car pile up accident in Jerusalem Monday evening.
She was on her way to Jerusalem from Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv for a dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A police car and an ambulance were also involved in the crash.
Government spokesman Rafał Bochenek issued a statement saying that “The car carrying the prime minister, who was at the head of the column, was not involved in an accident.”
The United Hatzolah rescue service said that three others were treated for light injuries. Bochenek said that one of the injured was an officer with Poland’s Government Protection Bureau.
The identities and nationalities of the two remaining injured persons is unknown.
On Tuesday Szydlo will meet with Netanyahu and a number of ministers before touring the Yad Vashem holocaust memorial and Jerusalem’s Old City.
