Two Israeli Police officers were seriously wounded Monday morning in a terror attack in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Initial reports indicate the two were stabbed near Herod’s Gate.
The terrorist was neutralized. Following the terror attack, police units closed off the area.
Magen David Adom reported that its emergency responders provided initial treatment to two officers, a 19-year-old young woman in serious condition and a man in his 40s in moderate condition. Both were evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in the capital.
A representative from Shaarei Tzedek, Dr. Ofer Marin, said the female victim was very seriously injured, noting that she had been stabbed in the neck.
The Arab terrorist, a 20-year old resident of the capital, was shot during the course of the terror attack and is in critical condition.
The attack took place shortly after 7:30am. The terrorist apparently came from the direction of Damascus Gate when he spotted the two members of the police. He followed them and stabbed them multiple times with a knife. Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said that the policewoman was stabbed in the neck.
The policeman was able to draw his sidearm and shoot the terrorist, whose condition was described as critical. He also is receiving medical treatment.
