An  Arab terrorist approached a group of IDF soldiers from the Nahal Brigade’s 50th Battalion near Hevron’s Tel Rumeida area Saturday morning, pulled out a knife, and stabbed one of them. The soldier was lightly wounded, and the terrorist was shot and eliminated by the other soldiers present.

This was the fifth attack in the span of two days, following a previous stabbing in Hevron on Friday, an attempted stabbing in Jerusalem, a vehicular attack in Kiryat Arba, and stone-throwing toward a bus on Highway 1.

An initial investigation of the attack indicated that the Arab terrorist came to an IDF checkpoint, and was asked to give the soldiers an ID. He handed them a piece of paper, and then pulled out a knife and stabbed one of them.

The soldier, lightly wounded, was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.

This was the fifth terror-related incident in a span of less than two days. One of the other incidents also involved an IDF soldier – also belonging to the Nahal Brigade’s 50th Battalion – being lightly wounded by a stabbing; Friday’s attack was the first terror incident at the Gilbert Checkpoint in Hevron since the terror attack in whose aftermath IDF Sergeant Elor Azaria shot and eliminated an Arab terrorist.
